Description
Every successful studio photographer applies the same basic principles when controlling light in order to produce a desired look to the subject. The key is to know how to modify raw strobe or continuous light sources using light modifiers such as umbrellas, soft boxes, diffusers and reflectors. The purpose of this all-day seminar is to explain and illustrate these principles and how typical studio equipment is used to obtain certain “looks”. The all-important role of the “main light” is explored fully along as well as the dynamics of fill, accent and background lighting. Also covered is the question of lighting ratios and how to determine the correct exposure and the control of lighting contrast so critical to the appearance of a subject. Some demonstrations will be presented and the course ends with a look at the equipment choices for setting up a basic lighting studio.
